Search Generative Experience (SGE) is Google’s AI-powered search tool provides an automated result to many search queries today and is expected to grow significantly. Those organic results are ALWAYS displayed at the top of the search engine results pages (SERPs).
And, keep in mind, any paid advertising being done in Google is not going to influnce these organic results.
Today when you input a topic or question in Google Search, then a SGE is generated. For example, search on “spatial computing,” and you will see a response such as this text and screen shot below.
The SGE includes links to relevant content and resources which we will see increase over time.
Do a search in Google on “what makes a good home builder” and you see the screen below.
The SGE display several characteristics of a company that builds good homes.
Keep in mind that AI created these results deciphering images and verbiage on your website pages.
Click “reputation” and you see screen below.
AI has selected, from the millions of existing websites, four links to show in this SGE content shown at the orange arrow.
A new report by SEMRUSH is pointing out that over 55% of mobile and about 25% of desktop searches leave the SERP without clicking on an organic or paid result. That is a lot of traffic not taking action, but what does it really mean?
Three common reasons for the no click result are the following:
Local businesses or services: Google often provides the necessary information (such as location, contact details, or business hours) directly in the local pack or map pack.
Quick conversions or calculations: For searches like “USD to EUR” or “miles to kilometers,” Google provides a quick conversion tool directly in the SERPs.
Public or celebrity information: Searches for public figures or celebrities often yield a knowledge panel that provides basic information like their age, occupation, and notable works.
The benefit to your business is being displayed at top of SERP which in turn builds your brand to your target audience and contributes to increasing website traffic.
Snippers are a Google tool that you can use in different areas on your website.
Using a snippet, and you can use more than one on a web page, will significantly boost your ranking in search results and possibly place your page at top of SERP, because that is where all snippet results are displayed in search results.
The snippet, used in combination with your key words, will help build and sustain your brand authority. The evidence is the display of your website at top of page.
It makes sense that the hight that authority is in rankings of search bots, the better your chances of showing up on top of page, and perhaps as a SGE too.
A.) What are the topics related to your products and services? Instead of guessing or doing what you think is best, use a tool that preforms research on topics related to specific products and services. In this type of tool, you benefit by easily drilling down to identify verbiage, which can include your key words, to have a webpage that is better optimized for your specific business.
B.) The six factors you must deal with in a published website are Crawlability, HTTPS, SEO, Site Performance, Internal Linking, and Markup. If you are not sure about those do some simple research, but each of them does measure your website using AI to give you a score. With those six factors you are adjusting your website architecture and page layout before you publish your website to the world.
C.) Having fresh content is necessary due to increasing competition and content velocity. You want your website to remain relevant and adjusting content is the crux of that accomplishment. The velocity refers to content lifecycle which continues to expand. What was important last year or three months ago, can change very rapidly and when that happens your website is less valuable.
A business website is a living document. The Google Search in conjunction with AI is a living tool which takes sustaining SEO and website marketing to a whole new level of understanding.
Google Search seems to be moving away from just information results. It appears that the new focus on search results are oriented to commercial and transactional items as noted in the SGE at beginning of this article. To move forward with success in website marketing, it’s a good time to evaluate how your current content displays augmented benefits in a user friendly mode.
AI searches do benefit local businesses which I show using data digs here and here.
